Diamond Lounge Interview

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Diamond Lounge. We were looking for a real flashy name, that would stick to our music, which is basically a mix of electro-funk, electro-pop, and sometimes we also collab with hip hop artists. So at the Brussels airport in Belgium, we saw this VIP lounge, called the Diamond Lounge, and that was it! Funny thing, the “Diamond” is also the name of a pub where we go often to have some beers, so the name was just perfect!

HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
Diamond Lounge. The two of us started in rock and pop-rock bands back in school days. The love of music came naturally listening to some of our parent’s albums or just watching music videos or hanging around in record stores. It was a natural step to go and buy a guitar or a drum kit and try to make some noise.

HCM. On your current/upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Diamond Lounge. Our next single “Breath” (out on October 9 on streaming platforms) is a mix of electro-rock and hip hop. We had this very nice chorus, pretty melodic with a kind of “the doors” organ driving it. and a more aggressive guitar-oriented verse.

We met this very talented hip hop artist called Truwerdz, who has a great sense of rhythm and also writes good lyrics, and we thought his flow would really fit the remaining verse parts.

HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Diamond Lounge. Work ethic is all about trying to reach a maximum of people but maintaining a sort of good artistic level.

So the greatest challenge is to have accessible music, but still, rich in production and playing.

HCM. What impression would you like listeners to be left with after hearing your music?
Diamond Lounge. Concerning this specific song, a sense of originality. We would like them to think “I can’t absolutely label this single, but yeah! sounds just great, it’s surprising”.

HCM. What are your plans for the near future?
Diamond Lounge. To grow more and more our global reach, through blogs, social media, and streaming platform presence, with growing interactions and engagement with fans.

HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Diamond Lounge. Yes, Truwerdz for his GREAT vocal contribution, and our friend Mike from LGTWO (www.lgtwo.org) who is a great promoter and mixing engineer.
