The Wolves of Glendale Story
The Wolves of Glendale is composed of members Ethan Edenburg (guitar), Eric Jackowitz (drums), and Tom McGovern (keyboards). McGovern had previously shared that their band name “was the natural description of our band — badass rock songs and lyrics about mundane, stupid things — and that’s what came out. It has to be lame, so we came up with Wolves, which is hard… and Glendale, which is not hard at all, but a sleepy little town we all happen to call home.”
Nine months after this comedy band formed, the Wolves of Glendale opened for Tenacious D’s Jack Black and Kyle Gass. They have also opened for David Cross and Jukebox the Ghost. In 2024, the Wolves of Glendale have played at the Netflix is a Joke Festival and Bonnaroo.
Black praised the Wolves of Glendale, stating, “The thing about Wolves of Glendale is… they sound f-ing fantastic.”
While the Wolves of Glendale are likened to acts such as Tenacious D, The Lonely Island, Bo Burnham, Flight of the Conchords, Weird Al, Ylvis, and Axis of Awesome, their sound and shows reflect their individuality and uniqueness.
In just the two short years since starting, this comedy band has experienced a quick climb to cult-like fandom. In January 2024, the trio of comedic musicians debuted their self-titled debut album, which was co-produced by John Spiker (Tenacious D) and Rian Lewis (Doja Cat, Ty Dolla $ign).
Songs off their debut album include “Planetarium Dump,” which Edenburg described as “it just kind of sounds like cold song… But if you look into it a little but you’re like, ‘the whole song is about crapping yourself? Okay, it’s pretty dumb.”
Yup! “Planetarium Dump” is indeed about soiling one’s pants. But the absurd humor reflected in The Wolves of Glendale’smusic doesn’t appear to be turning people away, as they have gained a significant social media following and dedicated fanbase.
Having released three music videos, the Wolves of Glendale are recognized for their absurd but relatable humor, pointed parodies, and boundless musical talent.
