Black Smith isn’t here to chase trends. Since first touching the mic in 1998, the Delray Beach-based lyricist has stuck to his roots with a sound grounded in 90s street grit, elevated by years of growth and evolution. His new single, Wit It, featuring Do Brown, serves as a powerful reflection of that journey — a declaration for those who came up grinding, step by step.
Originally from Newark, New Jersey, Smith made his move to Florida in 1995. Alongside his brother and longtime collaborator Caleb “DJ C Money” Dominique, he quickly found his rhythm in the local scene. What started as DJing house parties and park gatherings soon grew into full-fledged events that captured the city’s energy. From that momentum came Murk Squad, a crew that laid the foundation for Smith’s early impact. His debut single Thugged Out introduced his raw charisma to the streets and was followed by Young & Hustlin Vol. 1, a mixtape that gained serious underground respect and brought industry eyes to the table.
Though the group’s debut album Streets Motivation never saw release due to management complications, Smith didn’t slow down. Instead, he pivoted — launching a public studio that became a vital space for rising Florida talent. His grind paid off with a major co-production credit on LL Cool J’s The Hustler featuring Mavado, co-signed by the iconic Jerry Wonda.

Smith’s visuals have always been a mirror of his message. Wit It continues that trend, unfolding like a short film packed with ambition and authority. The video opens above a glowing skyline, then drops into the fast lane with Smith behind the wheel of a sleek black whip. Top down, gold chain swinging, eyes behind tinted shades, and a beautiful woman riding shotgun — it’s a visual statement of a man who’s earned every stripe and now rides with purpose.
“It’s all about the hustle,” Smith explains. “Every day you get up and grind, you stay around people with good energy, and you put that energy into the music.”
Released under his own Black Smith Entertainment Inc and Music Moves Money LLC, Wit It recently climbed to #59 on the Hip-Hop/Rap charts. For an independent artist who built everything brick by brick, it’s a proud moment and proof that real momentum doesn’t always move in straight lines.
Black Smith’s message remains clear: stay focused, stay resilient, and always stay “wit it.”
