Truth.Lies.Seduction is an innovative, sultry, genre-breaking new sound that features production from legendary producers to include Lex Luger. Prior to the release of TLS, Theory debuted two singles “What You Like” featuring Flight Boy and “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” featuring NewNew Babii. These first visuals pushed upwards of 20,000 views.
Theory is a beautiful young artist who was raised in Cleveland and now calls Baltimore home. To just say she is talented doesn’t quite feel strong enough as she is a singer, rapper, songwriter, engineer, producer, actress, and even had a successful stint as a professional basketball player.
In the summer of 2013 Theory released her debut underground mixtape, The Fever, soon after she was signed to an independent label. After deciding not to renew her recording contract, Theory created her own recording label, O1T Music, and surrounded herself with a stable full of talented artists and composers. During this period, a chance meeting between mutual friends led Theory to meet Juan Donovan Bell, part of the duo behind Darkroom Productions. Having produced for Grammy winners such as R. Kelly & KD Lang, and composing for hit shows such as HBO’s “The Wire” & MTV’s “Rob & Big” Darkroom had already built a fan base around the world and had quite the ear for talent. Juan and his partner Jamal loved Theory’s look, sound, and ambition. It was a no brainer that Theory would align herself and her imprint to the Darkroom label. Darkroom soon began working with her by producing songs and consulting on her upcoming album.
“Theory is Theory, and the rest of us are just human. Her aura, energy, and persona, all scream ‘Superstar’. She’s known as the ‘Hood Sade.’ Theory’s style is a lot of things, but in-a-box isn’t one of them. There is no floor to her ability and surely no ceiling to her talent,” said Bell. When asked what she wants to accomplish with her music, Theory doesn’t hesitate to say “I want to be an icon.” Theory is just what the entertainment world needs, and barely old enough to gain entry into the venues she performs in, she is just getting started.
Theory is currently performing at various venues on the east and west coast. She will be performing with legendary Jazz musician Marion Meadows December 13, 2014, and has been officially booked to perform in Virginia’s largest music festival Z104 Shagg Fest 2015.
