HCM Interviews Princess Ja’miyla

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Princess Ja’miyla. My mom gave my older sister that name (Princess) when she was an artist. Her name was Princess Mimi and she and my two brothers signed with a record label at 14. After a while, she had to stop to focus on acting. 3 years later I started my career and I carried the Royalty name as Princess Ja’miyla.

HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
Princess Ja’miyla. I discovered my love for music at the age of 4. When I turned 6, I went viral globally off my dance video. I knew I was a star and wanted to start making music.

HCM. On your current/upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Princess Ja’miyla. My album concept is I’m a Princess and my life is Royalty. The album is titled “Royalty World.”

HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Princess Ja’miyla. My challenge is putting together good music for my fans. My greatest attribute is my passion for being in the studio and making a hit.

HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Princess Ja’miyla. I would like to thank God, my mom – Titra Lampley, my family, a special thanks to my grandmom Mary who also supports everything I do.

  1. She is a very talented young girl with plenty of energy and creativity. I have had the pleasure of seeing her in action and how hard she works. She enjoys what she does. She is a natural star.
