Have you heard of the name Kobenz? Well, you should, and HCM got an opportunity to get in a little Q&A with the artist to learn a few things about him and his musical background. We also learned how Kobenz overcame a few obstacles in his life that he used as a means to fuel his passion for music. Take a look at his interview below to find out more.
HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Kobenz. I just came up with the name one day and I liked it. Also, it pays homage to Cobain and Lil Peep two of my big inspirations.
HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
Kobenz. Following a traumatic experience that ended up with me in a hospital for committing suicide.
HCM. To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Kobenz. 90’s grunge and early 2000’s goth culture with some personal Kobenz weirdness sprinkled in there.
HCM. On your current release… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Kobenz. I reached out to Katy Rose because I heard the song in this movie called Thirteen and I figured it would be a great duet.
HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Kobenz. Honestly, I think a lot of artists can relate it’s pretty hard to make a living and do music full time. As far as work ethic, I have been working on promoting and networking for this new single for the past two days straight. I have put 1000s of hours into this career.
HCM. What impression would you like listeners to be left with after hearing your music?
Kobenz. I would like you to feel something, scared, horny, happy, sad. To me, music is all about emotion. If you don’t feel anything when you listen to it you might as well just do something else.
HCM. What are your plans for the near future?
Kobenz. I am releasing a cover of violence by carolesdaught3r with her permission and two songs featuring Lil Tracy.
HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Kobenz. Blanco y Negro, they are a major record label in Spain who recently signed my song with SpaceMan Zack, Gothbxch!
