Montreal-born, Ottawa-bred artist City Fidelia has always taken inspiration from his ever-changing surroundings (including some time in Brooklyn); and it shows. Now based in Toronto, his music has taken on a whole new life. With influences of soul, jazz and R&B from his musician father, and an introduction to battle rap from his older brother, City’s music developed throughout his school years into a genre-bending ode to his family and the cities he’s called home. “It’s important for people to know I represent Ottawa, it’s an important part of who I am.”
With his latest release, A Pisces World, City’s fluid raps and vocals float over hypnotic, bass-heavy production. “This project defines me as an artist,” he says of the 9-song album. “I want people to understand that there’s always a blessing in every situation and for people to embrace their flaws.”
The driving force behind his movement,ONF (Old New Fashion Collective), his message & music speak to individuality, love, loyalty and the pursuit of happiness.
