HCM. Where are you from?
Getparadox. The old Brooklyn, New York.
HCM. How do you feel about the present state of the music industry?
Getparadox. It is what it is. The way the business works changes up every couple of years. You just have to be an artist that’s capable of changing with the times as well as with peoples tastes in entertainment.
HCM. Who influenced you to become an artist/band? And why?
Getparadox I would say my father. He wasn’t directly involved with me getting
into recording but he always attempted to teach me music as a child. How to play the guitar, piano, etc. I was never interested at that time but as an adult, I would say the
switch kicked in.
HCM. Today’s music seem to be about collaborations with the “hottest” artist out. Who would you want to work with on a project? And why?
Getparadox. Not interetsed in the hottest, they’re just marketing dollars. I’d rather collaborate with interesting arists. People who’re not afraid to experiment creativly. Off the top of my head I would say The Underachievers who are also from Brooklyn, NY.
HCM. Do you feel that you are an artist/band or entertainer? Explain.
Getparadox. I follow my own inspiration and have my own sound escpecially
since I produce most of my music. DJ’s typically describe me as international because I don’t fit into the typical Rap categories.
HCM. Does going gold or platinum matter to you?
Getparadox. Platinum? Nah, that barely happens anymore unless you’re from Canada.
I just want to give my audience a good experience. Sales are good for publicity but most of your income will come from performing. Not saying that I’m not always pushing for good sales though.
HCM. How do you feel about bootlegging?
Getparadox. Bootlegging is not bootlegging like it used to be because people give
away their own music now. To me the bootleggers now are the cats that claim to be DJ’s but when they get your music, all they do is upload the original song to a website so people can download. They don’t actually mix anything or speak over the music like a DJ is supposed to do. After all, it is called a “Mixtape”.
HCM. Would you prefer to be independent or signed to a major?
Getparadox. It depends on the contract. You can be locked into either and do very
well or hate your life!
HCM. What are you currently working on and how can the people find you?
Getparadox. I recently released a great single titled “For the Season” and am
currently recording a maxi-single titled “Live it up!”. I’m easy to keep up with. All of my social networks are my name.
