Hailing from the greater state of New York, Hood Critic Magazine catches up with rising hip-hop artist Trillz “Da Yung Apprentice” for an interview. Trillz is currently prepping for the release of his sophomore project titled “Road 2 Riche$ II”. Check out the details below!
HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Trillz means Trillz. That me. I mean you know its paying homage to the word Trill originally from Houston. And its a mix or real so Tru and real you get Trillz. And the Yung Apprentice part is just continuing to learn and become a boss. You never get too old to learn and build.
HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursuit a career in music?
I just knew how music make me feel when I was little. So I wanted to tell my story.
HCM. To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Nobody. I’m me. Trillz “Da Yung Apprentice”. I’m a product of my environment. So my style is just based off life.
On your current/upcoming album…
HCM. How did you come up with the concept for this project?
I think its speaks for yourself. Everyone is on their Road to riches. Riches doesn’t mean money. Bob Marley said it before “Riches is life”. So we all go through hiccups in the life which the road and you gotta menurver how you feel is best for you. And other then that its a party. [Laugh]
HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Probably balancing a relationship. Its a lot. Sometimes you gotta sacrifice and sometimes I be so busy to gets tough. Um and far as greatest attribute, that’s probably details. I like to pay attention to details.
HCM. What impression would you like listeners to be left with after hearing your music?
They should know art is litt. Art can make you feel good. Art can make you feel inspired.
HCM. What are your plans for the near future?
I’m coming for everything they said I couldn’t ! Grammys Grammys Grammys [Laugh]
HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Yea, of course I want to thank GOD first. Without him who knows what my blessings would be. I want to thank all my fans and supporters who keep inspiring me to keep going harder. Vicc Venom for believing in me. Kara for keeping me level headed and focused. Young Picc for showing me hard work pays off and consistency.
