HCM Interviews Brielle Monique

Brielle Monique Interview

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?

Brielle Monique. It’s actually my real name! Brielle is my first name which I always thought was really cool. And then my middle name is Monique. I wanted something that flowed and I wanted to keep Brielle because I think it’s really unique.

HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursuit a career in music?
Brielle Monique. I’ve always had a love for music. I’ve literally been singing since I was a toddler! I have cousins on broadway so it’s always been a big part of my life. Landing my first professional show at age 9 was a huge highlight. It brought me into the entertainment business at such a young age and I fell in love. Then when I was 11, I got hired as a performer at Legoland, and I’ve been performing there ever since. I was given the opportunity to travel to New York and Europe to sing and perform which was in incredible. I’ve been performing since such a young age and I fell in love with music. I knew this is what I wanted to pursue.

HCM. On your current/upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Brielle Monique. I want my music to make people feel good. I want people to say, “Wow I’ve been through that.” Or “This song helped me.” Music is so powerful and connecting to people is a huge thing for me. The whole concept of my album revolves around a butterfly. Flying through life and working through things.

HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Brielle Monique. I think it’s hard to come up with many different concepts for writing songs. Especially if you’re writing an album! You want each song to be different and to relate to people. I love writing in a setting where I have an open mind and can feed off of other people. That way, we’re all sharing ideas! I’ve been very fortunate to work with such a brilliant producer John Silas. We work incredibly well together and that has helped me so much throughout this process.

With my attributes, I’m a very hardworking person. I’m passionate and have a desire to think. That’s so important in music! I’m so committed to what I do and love every second of my path.

HCM. What impression would you like listeners to be left with after hearing your music?
Brielle Monique. I want people to feel the music that I perform. Connecting to your audience is so important and special. When someone can relate to your lyrics it is so powerful.

HCM. What are your plans for the near future?
Brielle Monique. I’m releasing my single August 31st so I’m super excited for that! Stay tuned!

HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Brielle Monique. John Silas! Thank you for working on my music with me and being on this journey! Of course I’d like to thank my family for all of their love and support.
