HCM Interviews Vernon Little

Vernon Little Interview

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?

Vernon Little. I use my birth name, which is actually my dad’s name.

HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursuit a career in music?
Vernon Little. I became a fan of music way back when groups like the Jackson 5 and Sonny & Cher had variety TV shows. Ending up at a local DJ’s (Joe Stick) apartment years later and being invited to rap made me want to pursue a career in music.

HCM. On your current/upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Vernon Little. My current EP is titled ‘Double Minded’. The title track is a gospel rap song that talks about people who want God in their lives, but won’t fully commit to Him. The other tracks are a combination of inspirational and braggadocious themes.

HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Vernon Little. Some of the challenges I face are getting beats, and getting airplay. My greatest attribute is probably speed…I record songs pretty fast.

HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Vernon Little. God, DJ Joe Stick, MC Kay, Bernard, Tommy, Jack, Pete, DJ Breaks, Uptown Rob, Marty, Dorsey, Edwin Sr, and Edwin Jr.
