HCM Interviews Hip-Hop Artist Geo Grittz

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Geo Grittz. My stage name! GEO is the first three letters of my real name, and Grittz comes from an old name I used to go by which was Gritty Gizzie. So I shortened the Gritty took out the Gizzie and you have Grittz!

HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursuit a career in music?
Geo Grittz. I’ve loved music from three years old. I used to copy Michael Jackson a lot, and my love for rap actually came from the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air“! Will Smith made me want to be that cool kid that can rap.

HCM. On your upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Geo Grittz. The project/album hasn’t been finalized yet, but concept wise it, would just be real life. I make party songs such as “Gushi“, but there’s a deeper story behind Geo Grittz.

HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Geo Grittz. The hardest challenge keeping me motivated is to be creative. Especially when real life is on a real low. One of my main attributes is getting things done. I hate leaving the studio with a half finished project. I always want something new to listen to from myself.

HCM. What impression would you like listeners to be left with after hearing your music?
Geo Grittz. The Impression I would like listeners to leave with is just realness. I want people to relate. I can be a bit different with the things I talk about, but trust me everything is relatable to somebody.

HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Geo Grittz. Shout out to my manager Kevin Best and Best of London Music. My guys Whisperz (All In Entertainment), Chomp, Mo Slicks, A. Staxx and Joey Sticks (Big Tune Fi dem). And last but not least, VMan Music! Everyone else knows who they are. Too many names to mention, but free my bro Tynes.
