HCM Interviews Philly Hip-Hop Artist Siyiid

HCM. Where are you from?
Syiid. Philadelphia, Pa

HCM. How did you come by your stage/band name?
Syiid. It’s a play on my real middle name, which is “Saeed”.

HCM. How do you feel about the present state of the music industry?
Syiid. Specifically, with hip-hop, I feel it’s more lanes than it’s ever been.  There’s definitely a diversity of styles to choose from.  But kind of on the flip-side of that, some of the more commercial ‘lanes’ do a little bit too much ‘copying and pasting’ the same type of artists IMO. and can lack originality at times.  But I get it, labels & artists are trying to cash in on trends, so I guess I can’t knock the hustle…

HCM. Do you feel that you are an artist or an entertainer? Explain.
Syiid. I’d definitely say an artist because entertainers seem to be more charismatic.  While I don’t think I’m devoid of all charisma, I don’t consider myself to be very charismatic most times.

HCM. What are you currently working on and how can the people find you?
Syiid. I’m currently working on my 2nd studio album titled “BettterThings” with a tentative release date of March 5th.  I can be found most active on Instagram at @Siyiid.
