HCM Interviews Nijay Scott and Talks About His Latest Release “Selfmade”

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Nijay Scott. A girl in high school gave it to me while I was writing music in class. I was in 10th grade. Scott, however, is my middle name. So I combined the two.

HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
Nijay Scott. I’ve been singing since 2 my family says and I’ve been performing since young as well. I’ve always known. MJ was my biggest inspiration but my godmother showed me I can make it happen.

HCM. On your current release… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Nijay Scott. I allowed the music my producer created to guide me inspirationally. I simply created what the music and all of the instruments inside the beats we selected (production) made me feel.

HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Nijay Scott. One challenge I’ve always had is holding on to my music. I’d say Nijay’s attribute is his ability to create melodies that stick so effortlessly.

HCM. What impression would you like listeners to be left with after hearing your music?
Nijay Scott. I want listeners to leave from listening to my music eager to return once they hear I have something new. To feel they listened to one of the most genuine ppl singing a song and to get something out of the music *sometimes other than just a vibe.

HCM. What are your plans for the near future?
Nijay Scott. I plan on releasing the songs apart if this 6 song project and doing everything possible to get my music heard KEY!
