HCM Interviews Artist Jae Glxy

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Jae Glxy. I used to go by a lot of different names online but eventually, I ended up wanting to use my actual name. Jae is my middle name, and at the time I was known as GLXY (galaxy abbreviated) so I just put the two together and it’s been that way ever since.

HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
Jae Glxy. I discovered my love for music when I was really young, my mom was a pianist before I was born and my dad loved 90’s hip hop and grunge music. I remember being 5-6 years old listening to Tupac, Creed, Jay-Z, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Live and so much more. As I grew up I always found different subgenres of music that I would dive into. Eventually, I knew I wanted to make something that other people would find as amazing or inspiring as the artists I listened to.

HCM. On your current/upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Jae Glxy. I came up with the idea of the album at like 2AM, I just remember being high out of my mind and wanting to create things that felt comforting for the soul. It always feels lonely at home even though that’s the one place you’re supposed to belong so I just wanted to encapsulate the thoughts and insecurities as well as the upbeat goofiness we all let out when we’re alone.

HCM. What are your plans for the near future?
Jae Glxy. My plans are to drop the next project I’m working on, titled “Aether Body” in the next couple of weeks, I’m doing a lot of different styles that I’ve never done before and I think it will really show my versatility as an artist. After that lots of videos leading up to my first big project “drive me 2 hell in a drop-top”. Realistically I’d just like to be able to keep busy and keep creating.

HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
Jae Glxy. I’d like to thank the people that support my music and follow my social media, you guys make me more than just a random guy on the internet even though that’s exactly what I am. I’d also like to thank my collective Gravegang and the homies Lanky, iLLFaith, and RainingOnRoses.
