HCM Interviews Next Level Sounds COO Jamal Davis

HCM. How did you come up with the name for your business?
JD. The name was created by my business partner Jason Howard, we just wanted something simple that got across the message that we were trying to do something different.

HCM. What are some current or upcoming projects from NLS artists that people should be aware of?
JD. Our flagship artist Slitherilla has an extremely dope project out right now called Slither Season 2, he’s a 19 y/o artists from Philly. He and RPG Shad (from Atlanta) are currently working on a new EP. KD Gotti and a few other artists that we are affiliate with are also working on projects.

HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as a business owner? What is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
JD. Just the initial grind it takes to get a business going, turning fans into supporters and turning doubters into fans. My greatest attribute when it comes to work ethic is just putting in the work daily. I love researching and discovery, I’m not afraid to do the dirty work but I love the attention to detail.

HCM. What impression would you like listeners of your playlists or artists to be left with after hearing the music?
I want my listeners to be impressed with the music first and foremost, secondly the diversity and continuity of the playlist. Any artist that we partner with we’re looking for unique authenticity and work ethic.

HCM. What are your plans for the near future?
JD. We plan to execute our plans from last year, just a bit better this year. We started the brand last February so we have a better idea of what we want to accomplish daily, and monthly now. We will start to sponsor more events based on helping independent artists and continue to try to provide artists a platform that gets them exposure.

HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
JD. I’d like to shoutout my business partner Jason Howard at M37 Management and Don Johnson at 4ever Focused Photography.
