HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
A-iris. My stage name is a combination of letters from my real name Asmaa Idrisu, A-iris.
HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
A-iris. Since age 5 I remember dancing to Faith by George Michael and never stopped loving music onwards. In my teens I discovered my voice and realized that music was my passion, I started writing poetry as well and that turned into songwriting later on.
HCM. On your current/upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
A-iris. It was really a random selection of songs I had recorded at different stages in my life, I felt those songs represent who I am and my experiences.
HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
A-iris. I think discovering yourself is a process and can be challenging. I believe in strong relationships and loyalty, especially in the music business.
HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout-outs?
A-iris. My family has been very supportive and encouraging.
