HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Dez Pave. My first name (Dallas) starts with a “D” and it’s very easy for me to make classic music, so I took the letter “D” and combined it with “EZ”. Also, I’m paving the way for younger artists from my town, that’s where the “Pave” comes from. So yeah, that’s the story behind the name “Dez Pave”.
HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?
Dez Pave. I have had a love for music for as long as I can remember, but I realized I wanted to do it myself around 2016. I just felt like the game needed my sound. Many songs sound the same and hip hop needs something fresh.
HCM. On your current/upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Dez Pave. I titled this project “Another Gamble” because a lot of people can relate. Every day you’re taking a gamble whether you’re doing your thing in the streets, or if you’re doing the music thing, because you don’t know how it will turn out, but you’re still willing to take chances and bet on yourself because you’re not happy with an average 9 to 5 life, you want the big success.
HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Dez Pave. The greatest challenge as an artist is not having enough time to spend with loved ones because it is a 24/7 job to stay hot so I’m always very busy. The greatest attribute I have when it comes to work ethic is never being satisfied, so I’m always adding more small details to songs to make them better.
HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout-outs?
Dez Pave. Of course, I have to thank my family and friends who always support me, and, I wanna shoutout the whole Staten Island and all the new talent representing it well and working hard.
