Recently we got an opportunity to interview a unique rap artist by the name of Preacher Picasso. His approach to rapping is somewhat extraordinary, delivering flows as if he were speaking to a church congregation. In a sense, you can say that’s exactly what he does. Preacher Picasso Interview
HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Preacher Picasso. Well… I am a minister so this is where preacher comes from and when I rap I like to say things in detail…This is where Picasso comes from.
HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursuit a career in music?
Preacher Picasso. I discovered my love for music in the 4th grade… This is how long I’ve been rapping… I realized I wanted to pursue a career at age 18.
HCM. To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?
Preacher Picasso. I accredit my sense of style to Kendrick Lamar especially when I rap.
HCM. On your current/upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Preacher Picasso. On my upcoming single, ”FUNKY!” I just wanted to do something different… Something I’ve never done before especially with the trumpet solo at the end.
HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Preacher Picasso. My greatest challenge is being myself… Sometimes I worry about what’s on another man’s plate and not focus on my own. My greatest attribute is my creativity. Always have been and always will be.
HCM. What impression would you like listeners to be left with after hearing your music?
Preacher Picasso. “Dang!! This dude is good” lol…
HCM. What are your plans for the near future?
Preacher Picasso. Right now my plan is to land a feature on a Spotify editorial playlist… We’ll go from there!
