Maryland-based rapper Ishy Ish is on a mission to be heard and acknowledged in today’s music industry. HCM had a chance to get a somewhat brief Q&A from the aspiring artist to paint a clearer picture for our readers. Check out his interview to see what he had to say.

HCM. Where are you from and how did you get to this point in your career as an artist?
Ishy Ish. DMV. Maryland
HCM. When did you know that you were going to make music a career?
Ishy Ish. Always been able to put words together.
HCM. What musical influences did you listen to growing up helped to mold you into the artist you are today?
Ishy Ish. Current favorites are Drake for sure, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, and British artists such as J Hus. Growing up I listened to a lot of everything. Reggie, Bob Marley,
HCM. On your current/upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Ishy Ish. Recently Released “Overgrown” Ep. Inspired by my self-growth as a person and an artist. “Russia” and “Condo” are singles that are picking up steam.
HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Ishy Ish. I honestly feel like I make undeniable music. If it hits your ears, you’re going to love it. I just need to get it to a speaker near you.
HCM. What do you think your “biggest break” or “greatest opportunity” has been so far in your musical career?
Ishy Ish. Been able to work with major artist “Shy Glizzy” on my first project.
HCM. How do you see your sound evolving in the next couple of years?
Ishy Ish. I’m getting better with time. Each project I’m gaining more confidence, releasing faster. Only time will tell. I know my music is undeniable.
HCM. What impression would you like listeners to be left with after hearing your music?
Ishy Ish. I just want people to listen. “OverGrown” the EP is available on all major platforms.
