HCM. When did you start making music and taking it serious?
Dave. I started making music at the age of 11. Singing since I was 3… I have always taken it seriously.
HCM. Do you feel that the industry needs more artist like yourself? Why?Dave. Yes, I feel like the industry needs more artists like me because there arent alot of popular singers who sing anymore. The line between hip hop and r&b have become so blurred that it’s nearly invisible.
HCM. Would you prefer to be independent or signed to a major?
Dave. I own my own imprint. I’d like to keep it that way. If I were to sign with a major label it would be for distribution only.
HCM. How do you feel about pirating?
Dave. I don’t like it. I as an artist don’t want people to steal my music, so I wouldn’t do it to anyone else.
HCM. Who do you feel are the best singers?
Why?
Dave. There aren’t alot out in the R&B Game right now. I listen to a lot of Gospel to draw my vocal inspiration from (as well as spiritual #teamJesus) But I love the old school (80’s and 90’s) singers… Faith Evans, Whitney Houston, etc.
