HCM Interviews Hip-Hop/Pop Sensation – “MBeyeline”

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
MBeyeline. I was 13 years old and I had to sign up on a local social platform in the Republic of Moldova. So I had to come up with an unique username, so I made up MBeyeline: M – from my first name Mariana, B – from my last name Berdianu, eye – from having natural big eyes, Line (read as ‘lean’) – complements the ‘eye’ and also comes as a tribute to my aunt (Aylin) that made sure I had a normal childhood after the war my country went through in 1992.
HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursuit a career in music?
MBeyeline. My oldest record of my beginnings come from what my parents tell me: I was singing myself to sleep as a baby. Needless say, music has always been a part of me. I was doing covers and all that beginner level stuff, but one day I got into an online ‘fight’ with a hater who told me ‘you will never be a great artist ’cause you only do covers’. So I had to prove him wrong 🙂 Thank you Igor!

HCM. On your current album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
MBeyeline. Currently I am promoting the music video for the Oh Ah Yeah single off my Phoenix EP. I created the EP while I was slowly recovering from a complete mental and physical breakdown. I had too much negativity in my life and I didn’t know that it WILL catch up with me and my body sooner or later: I had so much anxiety and stress that my brain stopped communicating with the rest of my body in a normal way (I suddenly couldn’t walk, couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep and was dying). It took me 2 years to fully recover. So my mental and physical rebirth are embodied in this EP. And Oh Ah Yeah it’s the perfect song to kick off with. Positive vibes ONLY.

HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
MBeyeline. As everyone knows, being independent is a bit of an impediment trying to get big name brands behind your project. But I will get there eventually. My greatest attribute is resilience and patience. I know that as long as I don’t give up, it will all work out.

HCM. Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?
MBeyeline. Of course! First and foremost, my family: mom, dad and out-of-this-world brother. Then to my absolutely amazing hardcore supporters: Francine, Joesey, Daniel, Pedro, Omar, Marcus, Nim, Himanshu, Jacques, Billy. Then, to the newest addition to my team: my fiance, Federico, thank you for believing in me as much as you do!
