Fearless Izzy Spring Releases Unapologetically Fun New Single ‘MEDIOCRITY’

Singer-songwriter Izzy is a fearless new voice in contemporary pop. Her fresh single, “MEDIOCRITY” is an upbeat heartbreak anthem sure to resonate with every person who has experienced heartbreak at some point in their lives (in other words, everyone).

“Genre-fluid,” Izzy weaves in and out of musical styles, threading stories into her work as she moves along with the tempo. A multi-instrumentalist, she brings her songs to life through vocals as well as harp, piano, guitar, and more, creating rich, layered compositions that reflect her diverse influences. Izzy’s music reflects a fusion of EDM, bedroom, and cinematic pop with an overlay of strong, dreamy vocals. Growing up in a musical household, Izzy developed a wide-ranging skill set that informs her artistry today. Ignoring early warnings from her mother to stay away from a career in music, Izzy dove headfirst into her passion. “I pick things I love and go for it,” she shares. By day, Izzy is a video game producer; by night, she’s a pop star. The duality of Izzy’s nature can be seen in her life and in her art — she’s equally serious (about doing her best) and playful. “I like making stuff — whatever the medium,” she adds.

Izzy is proudly distributed through Bungalo Universal and collaborates with a wide network of creative talent, including photographers, painters, concept artists, and visionary directors. Despite these professional accomplishments, she maintains her signature humor and authenticity, joking that her proudest achievement is “making out with my hottest friends.” Outside of the studio, Izzy explores her creativity through performance art (aerial silks and voice acting), video game development, and LARP.

Izzy Spring often works alongside her father, who moonlights as a DJ, to create her music. “I tend to write when I’m feeling really strong emotions about something,” tells Izzy, who writes around four songs every day. Each song is distinct in both content and composition. Izzy enjoys switching instruments when writing her music. “Sometimes it’s guitar. Sometimes keyboard. Sometimes harp,” explains Izzy. “Sonically, every instrument I write with inspires something different.”

Her newest single, “MEDIOCRITY,” came about after a Dua Lipa listening party for her Future Nostalgia album release. “I was inspired to make something my friends and I could bop and dance to. I really wanted to make something they would love – something new disco and really fun,” she adds.

The single is an anthem for anyone who has ever experienced the return of an ex who comes crawling back after a particularly difficult heartbreak. “I noticed time and time again — and my friends have also been saying it — that any man who breaks our heart comes crawling back to us at some point, a day or a year — it’s inevitable. I was heartbroken when I wrote this song. It’s about knowing you were the prize when someone else messed up.”

It’s only natural Izzy would write a song so her friends could have a good time. “My friends are so supportive and the inspiration for my music,” she shares. “They are my ride or die.” Izzy also hopes the single will resonate with listeners coming out of a bad situation. “I hope whoever needs to hear it hears it,” she says. “And if they don’t need to hear it, they can shake their a** to the beat.”

With a growing presence and a fearless artistic voice, Izzy continues to redefine what it means to merge vulnerability with spectacle, inviting listeners into a space where honesty and imagination collide.
