HCM. When did you start making music and taking it serious?
Joined the church choir as a child and was a faithful member of the school choir Elementary-High School. I frequently performed solo acts in school activities, at concerts and community events, and talent contests. I enjoyed writing poetry and was an advanced writer in school. Throughout school my love for song writing grew stronger and I discovered a soulful sound from within, created my stage name HerSoul and began recording. My first recorded songs were Struggle No More ft Young Nechi and Better Days. I am a versatile artist singing and performing genre of songs ranging from R&B, Soul, Blues/Southern Soul, and Hip Hop.
HCM. Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?
The vision that I have and the mission that I’m on is way more than music!! Anytime I can brighten others’ lives with this gift and help the next individual keep hope alive I’ve mastered a goal. I wouldn’t say I’m the best but I’m rather effective at what I do.
HCM. Have you won any awards?

HCM. Tell us about your new project.
A Sample of HerSoul Volume I will be released during the fall.
HCM. What does it mean to you?
I have such an old soul and an ear for 80s, 90’s and early 00s music this project will portray just that giving listeners and fans a sample. In return, liking what they hear and wanting to hear more!!
HCM. What was your biggest risk taken in your career?
Spreading positivity..Having a genuine heart..Not conforming to society eyes and not fearing being different. Staying true to myself..sticking to my Mississippi roots.
HCM. What is your ultimate goal at the end of your career?
With this gift that God has blessed me with being something that I enjoy doing, therefore I don’t see it being something that will ever end. I hope to never make what I enjoy doing a career consequently, that’s when you may lose the passion and love for it. While fulfilling my purpose my goal is to spread soul while touching souls, inspire, motivate, and positively impact lives and families across the universe. I am that living model and proof to exhibit that dreams do come true in this lifetime. With the hard work you’ve put it in when it’s your season, It’s your season no matter what..
HCM. What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?
Keep God 1st..Believe in yourself..No 1 owes you anything you owe YOURSELF a lot..never go a day without striving to make your dream reality..keep good and positive folk around ya..network and build healthy relationships..listen closely to what you don’t hear at first..be humble..be CONSISTENT..never ever STOP!!! It’s okay to be different and authentic, they will love it later. Lastly, music is a powerful tool, be mindful how you utilize it.
