HCM Interviews Westcoast Rap Collective “Laylow-TNG”

HCM. Where are you from?
Laylow-TNG. The city of Baldwin Park of the San Gabriel Valleys in California.

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Laylow-TNG. Growing up I was the silent type, always laying low, until I went to high school and came out of my shell. I became more confident in who I truly was. Laylow stuck with me when it came to making life decisions, always moving silently.

HCM. When did you start making music and taking it serious?
Laylow-TNG. I started making music at the age of 18, and continued till the age of 21. I had life obstacles that took my motivation away. I felt like it wasn’t meant for me because too many things were getting in my way. It took me 8 long years for me to jump back into music and realize this is my passion and my life long dream. I have been consistent in my career as an artist for 10 months and its only uphill from here.

HCM. Who influenced you to become an artist?
Laylow-TNG. I was influenced the first time I listened to Tupac, I was only 8 years old at the time.

And why? I always like the way he was able to paint a picture when it came to his lyrics in his music. You could feel the emotion in his life’s story and that’s what I hope people will get from my music. Everyone has a story, it only matters how you tell it.

HCM. Would you prefer to be independent or signed to a major?
Laylow-TNG. Personally, I prefer to be an independent artist. Now a days you here so many stories about artists that are signed to major record labels and are controlled by the label itself. I would want to be independent for the simple fact I would want to be my own boss.

HCM. What are you currently working on and how can the people find you?
Laylow-TNG. Right now, I’m currently working on my first studio album “Life Aint What It Seems“. There is no release date for my album just yet, hopefully it will be out by Spring 2020. You can find me on all streaming platforms, Laylow-TNG. You can also find me on social media @laylowtng. Be on the lookout for my latest singles.
