HCM Interviews Papi Finesse

HCM. How did you come by your stage name?
Papi Finesse. My stage name been stuck with me since high school. I Always had that name. I grew up on always having my way, feel me. I ain’t ever ask no body for sh*t none of that, I was always gettin it out the mud so a lot of people use to see that on me. I ain’t ever knew I’ll be an artist named Papi Finesse. That’s just how people knew me by in my hood. PF. I figured it’d be the best stage name I could go wit.

HCM. When did you discover your love for music and what made you realize you wanted to pursuit a career in music?
Papi Finesse. I really was around the music scene my whole life. I was raised wit one of my older cousins, she use to be a big fan of pun, dipset, lauryn hill, pac, BIG, Hov, Diddy, any 90’s and early 2000’s music that was poppin I was always hip to. So I always said she played a huge part when I decided to really take this serious. It was once her dream that she never got to accomplish so I kinda feel like I owe that to her, u know? She introduce me to this craft, and talent that I never knew I had within me.

HCM. On your current/upcoming album… How did you come up with the concept for this project?
Papi Finesse. I actually got a little EP I’ve been thinking about releasing soon. I just been waiting for the perfect time. Thing is I can’t choose what I wanna put on it. It’s so much music I got loaded up right now it’s crazy. But the concept behind this project has a lot of versatility. I really just sat back, and listened to pretty much every genre you could think of. One thing that drives me is what I can do in the studio, and the creativity I have. But the concept of this project I really wanna’ show the world what I mean when I say I’m an artist. Not a rapper.

HCM. What are some of your greatest challenges as an artist, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
Papi Finesse. One of the greatest challenges I face as an artist, I feel like I don’t get enough recognition yet.. but at the same time I love it because it jus shows that I gotta work 10x’s harder. I use to care about numbers now I just care about the content. Weather people f**** wit me or not, good music always make its way around. My greatest attribute? Vision. Nobody could ever knock me from my belief. I know what I’m due for. Just a matter of time before it shows.

HCM. What are your plans for the near future?
Papi Finesse. There’s aaaaaloottttt of things in the works that’s going on. I just haven’t spoke on it because I feel like there’s certain things that shouldn’t be spoke upon until things reveal themselves. I’ll tell you what tho, we just signed a partnership and we getting ready to go crazy.
